Mystery Shopping at a Bank

When you sign up for a mystery shopping network, you will often be asked a series of questions. These questions will range from the type of job that you do to your hobbies. One of the reasons that they are asking you all of these questions is because they want to know what special jobs you will be qualified to do for them. They also want to know if you or a family member are part of anything that might disqualify you from taking part in a specific shop. Some of the businesses that come to the mystery shopping networks are very specific about the qualifications of anyone that would be considered to do a shop at their business. One of these types of shops is a mystery shop at a bank.

Mystery shopping at banks is actually very interesting. Most times you will get the job if you are not already an account holder, so you need to go in and open a new account. You will be evaluating their employees on both timing and their answers to specific questions that you are going to ask. These questions will be provided for you and you must be familiar with them before entering the bank. Most banks have specific things that they must ask as well, such as offering you the latest promotional item that is being offered at the bank.

When I did my first bank mystery shopping job I was rather nervous. I didn't realize that it was actually going to be a very easy thing to do. I went into the bank and put down my name on the list and secretly started my stopwatch to see how long it would be before they got to me. According to the guidelines that the bank had provided, they had 20 minutes to get to me or the shop was over. Fortunately for them, they called my name within 5 minutes so I was off to sign up for a new account.

Once I was seated in front of the bank representative, I began to ask the questions that were provided for me by the company. I asked things about CD rates, savings interest rates and bank hours. All of these questions were answered properly by the person that was helping me. After I finished filling out the paperwork for a new account, I sat back and waited for them to make a mistake.

Typically, most people will skip the upsell, where they tell you about the latest promotion that the bank is offering. The person that was helping me, however, offered it without hesitation. I was amazed, they had done everything right. I walked out of there happy for them because I knew that once the great score got back to the bank they would be perked in one way or another.

Many times, people think of mystery shopping as being all about grocery stores and restaurants. The fact is that special shops can be both profitable and enjoyable. It is a welcome break to the monotony that many of the mystery shops have to offer.
