Bad Secret Shops - What Every Mystery Shopper Wants

Not everything goes good all the time for everyone. When was the last time that you were somewhere and got horrible service? I'm sure that it stuck in your mind for a while, as a negative experience is often more memorable than a positive experience. For the most part, however, we don't experience bad things like this on a regular basis. Most of our interactions with people that we have dealings with go about just as they should, with a little bit of courtesy and then we're on our way. There are times, however, whenever things do go horribly wrong and we are treated improperly by people that we are dealing with. This is something that mystery shoppers experience as well, except they have the power to do something about it.

The first time that something went wrong with me on a mystery shop was on my very first job. I had taken a donut shop and was fairly nervous about getting started on this new job. The people inside the donut shop were not only not helpful, they were downright rude to me whenever I went to place my order. Most of the things that were supposed to be available were not available by the time I had gone in and the person that was waiting on me was not very helpful in making alternate choices. Since it was my first evaluation form, I was a little bit nervous about giving somebody all bad marks but I filled the form out honestly and I'm sure that they were not rewarded for their efforts.

Another bad time that I had while I was out mystery shopping was when I was at an upscale restaurant. Not only was the service bad, the food that we got was bad as well. It all started when we first went into the restaurant and we were not greeted at the door. With each mystery shop that you do, you are given a series of things that you are to expect to have happen to you. The first thing on the list was that everybody who entered the restaurant was to be greeted at the door. Unfortunately, for them, it all went downhill from there. The waiter that we had was rude and only showed up at the table to take our order. In fact, we ended up never getting a refill on our drinks which is also something that we were to watch for with that particular secret shop.

Giving somebody bad marks is not something that you would want to do on a regular basis. At times, however, it is necessary to be able to give somebody a negative report, especially when they have earned it. I find that being honest when filling out the evaluation forms is the best way to go. The owners of the business pay their employees to provide a level of service. If that is not provided then it becomes your responsibility as a mystery shopper to let them know.
